Presented by Jay S. Golden, PhD, SCPM, REA
Director, National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations

Urban regions are among the most rapidly changing environments on earth. As cities grow, they impact local and regional climates and energy consumption. One of the greatest challenges facing our current generation of scientists and engineers is how to support the growth of new and existing urban centers in a sustainable manner.

Dr. Jay Golden will focus on how ASU is taking a leading role in developing a new generation of materials and technologies to address critical impacts derived from urbanization. He will explore renewable energy solution programs, energy reduction material designs and how ongoing research is making efforts to diminish the Urban Heat Island effect.
