At the National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations we are always looking for new ways to educate the masses on the necessity of integrating sustainabilty into all aspects of development. Whether that be through using recycled materials in pavements, decreasing our dependency on non-renewable fossil fuels or uncovering new technologies that drastically decrease our consumption or pollution of our fresh water supply. Humanity has the ability to make development sustainable-to ensure that it meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs (WCED, 1987, 8).
